We fulfill the
Great Commission through several strategies:
Education
We
provide various ways to education our people on being a
world Christian. Specifically, we provide an eight
week Foundations 501 Class (Vision for the Nation)
during the Spring Semester of every year. We also
provide scholarships for members for the Perspective
Class and the Urbana Conference.
Experience
We
believe that every believer benefits from experiencing the
work of missions first hand. Thus, we encourage our
members to see, touch, smell and feel the work in several
ways.
STEP:
Every summer since the 1995, we have sent short-term (two
months) teams to various parts of the world. Our teams
have gone to Indonesia (95), Thailand (96), Papua New Guinea
(97), Siberia (98), Mongolia (99), Benin (2000), Tibet
(2001), Russia (2002), Canada & Guatemala (2003), China
& Canada (2004), Canada, China & Kyrgyzstan (2005).
We desire every college-age member to attend STEP at least
once. We also provide support for members who go on
short-term trips with other approved mission organizations.
GO!: We feel that it would benefit busy working
individuals and families to also experience mission
first-hand. This will be a 10-day mission trip
specifically designed and tailored to those who are unable
to go on STEP. We've gone to Honduras (2003 & 2004)
and Thailand (2005).
Energize
We desire
to partner with those who are doing the work of missions by
providing finances, prayer and other tangible help. We
are currently partnering with 3 missionary families.
They are considered associate missionaries by our church.
They are long-term relationships that we value greatly.
We do not reveal their identity on the internet because of
the sensitive nature of their work but you can always find
more information at church.
Emigrate
We
ultimately desire to send people from our own midst to do
the work of mission. In 2002, we commissioned our
first missionary family to go to Southeast Asia. We
were grateful for that privilege. In 2003, we will be
commissioning our second family to go to Central Asia.
May God bless their work and our partnership. If you
would like more information about the two families, their
prayer cards are available in the welcome wagon in the
church foyer.
